AAUW Makefield Area Branch has a long tradition of awarding academic scholarships to girls and women in our community. These awards demonstrate the AAUW Mission of Advancing Equity for Women and Girls through Advocacy, Education, Philanthropy, and Research. The Branch currently funds two types of scholarships.
Graduating High School Seniors
Guidance counselors from participating high schools refer nominees to the High School Scholarship Committee of AAUW Makefield Area Branch. Specific criteria and timelines are publicized in early February within each of the participating high schools: Council Rock North, Council Rock South, Morrisville, Neshaminy, Pennsbury, and Bucks County Technical High School. Students who are interested in applying are encouraged to consult with their respective guidance counselors.
Women Returning to College
Bucks County Community College and AAUW Makefield Area Branch are cooperating to offer scholarships for one or two classes per semester to women returning for advancement of their college education and degrees. The BCCC Financial Aid Office screens candidates according to an agreed set of criteria and presents finalists to the College Scholarship Committee of AAUW Makefield Area Branch. Women interested in applying are encouraged to contact Kristal Karl, Financial Aid Representative at BCCC.
Coordinating with scholarship programs of other colleges may be considered at a future time.
